Dundas Valley School of Art
A Dundas institution, the Dundas Valley School of Art was founded in 1964 when Emily Dutton and Marion Farnan brought professional art instruction to the town.
Classes were first offered in a space above Pinder’s sporting goods. In 1965 the school moved to the former Smith Glove Factory behind 132 Melville Street.
By 1971, the school had outgrown the glove factory and the Board purchased the present building on Ogilvie Street. The school continued to expand its offering of classes and programs, becoming an integral part of the cultural life of the community of Dundas.
