W.W. Forsythe
W.W. Forsythe- William Walter Forsythe born 1862 in Jarvis, came to Dundas in 1892 where he was a photographer until 1924. The son of Gideon Forsythe and Mary Ann Elliott, he married Wife Charlotte May Walker and together they had their daughter Rita Rae Forsythe.
William would later on work as the town’s assessor and tax collector, and an active worker in the Conservative Association, the recording secretary for the Chosen Friends, then finally the mason and member of the Sons of Scotland. He passed away from poor health at the age of 80 in his home of 199 King Street west.
Forsythe was apart of the publishing of book ‘Picturesque Dundas’ together with W.A. Davidson and Charles N. Pirie in 1896. He took the almost two hundred photos of Dundas with the goal of showcasing the beauty of their community before the turn of the century. (Though they also did include the town’s likeness around the Victorian era).
